SuitsArtful Tailoring asks that you join us in donating your old suits to St. Joseph The worker. SJW teaches improved job readiness by focusing on timeliness, attitude, appearance, responsibility, and job search techniques.

Our suit drive starts September 25th and runs through September 30th. We have donation boxes and flyers at both of our locations.

Hava Java 5K & 10K Run – Phoenix, AZ

PHOENIX, Ariz.— October 17, 2014 — You want to make a coffee run? In what may be the only race in Arizona to begin and finish at a coffee shop, the second annual Hava Java 5K and 10K Run is set to take place Sunday, October 19. Take a caffeinated Sunday morning run along the canal to help a great cause: Valley Youth Theatre.

There’s nothing like running along the Arizona Canal on a cool Sunday morning in October, so grab some friends and meet at Hava Java, Arizona’s oldest, most awarded coffee house since 1992. Have a quick jolt of caffeine before you head out, or sip some water ahead of the run. Either way, it will be great to run alongside Hava Java customers and friends.

Both the 5K and the 10K will start and stop at the coffee house, located on the northwest corner of 32nd Street & Camelback. The route will take runners up 32nd Street and west along the canal. All proceeds from the race will benefit Valley Youth Theatre.

The 10K will kick off from the coffee shop at 7:15 am and the 5K starts at 7:30 am.

“We are thrilled to be doing this again for the 2nd year. Last year was so much fun we had to do it again! It’s a fun run along the Canal with friends and family to help Valley Youth Theatre, which we are big fans and supporters,” said Hava Java owner Tina Shafer. “I would like to thank our sponsors for their support and we look forward to seeing our customers and friends on what will be a memorable day.”

Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ) Announces Chairs for Annual Porch Party Gala

PHOENIX, Ariz.— September 9, 2014 — Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ)  is excited to announce Event Chairs for the 12th Annual Porch Party;  Molly Stockley and Sameer R. Keole, M.D. Molly is currently the Assistant Vice President of Hospital Growth at Cancer Treatment Centers of America and has been a longtime supporter of CSCAZ. Molly is also the co-founder of Kristi Cares Melanoma Foundation in honor of a dear friend who lost her life to the disease which strives to educate Arizona residents about the dangers of skin cancer. Dr. Keole is the Proton Beam Medical Director at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Keole is overseeing the complex proton therapy building project set to open to treat patients in 2016.


Honorary Co-Chairs:

Kay Kays and Michael S. Gordon, M.D. will be spotlighted as our Honorary Chairs for their support to those on their cancer journey.  The Honorary Chairs will speak during the event and give their perspectives of cancer research and advocacy.  Kay is a 20 year pancreatic cancer survivor and patient advocate. Kay said “My dissemination of cancer research to patients is always a two way street of learning and I am able to represent cancer patients at the grant review table with up to date information for accrual and quality of life from the real world of cancer.”  Dr. Gordon is the CEO and Director of Research at Pinnacle Oncology Hematology. His interested have been in the development of new cancer therapies with a focus on targeted therapies and drugs that affect angiogenesis (tumor blood vessel supply).


About Porch Party:

Porch Party will be held on October 18, 2014 at the Sheraton Downtown Phoenix (map).  This event will be business casual with unique event details. Youth cancer survivors host an art gallery and showcase their photographs that depict what leadership means to them.  Appetizers are made from a local chef that showcase cancer fighting foods.  Guests can then take the recipe home and make the healthy dishes for themselves.  This event will include a live auction, drawing prizes and a fund-a-program opportunity.

Trail Breakdowns No Obstacle for Off Road Rescue Team

Eliot Colsten is used to getting people safely out of a tight spot; he’s been doing it for over a decade. The transition was a natural one when he decided to open Arizona Off Road Rescue and Towing a year ago. AZORR specializes in the recovery of all types of off-road vehicles including jeeps, dirt bikes, quads, trucks, and cars. The Nephcure Walk Arizona

Walk to support research for Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS

On Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Kiwanis Park – Fiesta Ramada’s in Tempe, AZ.


San Tan Valley, AZ. 8-2013 — The Nephcure Foundation along with local patients will be holding a NephCure Walk on Sunday, October 13, 2013. The family affected is a committed member of the community. Elizabeth (Ely) Grau, age 50, has been dealing with FSGS-Focal Segmental Glomeruli Sclerosis for over 8 years. There is no cure for this rare condition, which affects the kidney filtering systems. Ely found out that she had this disease at the same time that her favorite basketball player Miami Heat Alonso Mourning was going through his kidney transplant for the same disease.  “I remember being told that if I did not attack it aggressively I would have to go on dialysis and would need a transplant within a year. It was scary to hear that, being a single mom with a 13 year old daughter at that time. Luckily the aggressive treatment put me in remission but it was at a cost. My immune system got bad, gained weight and lost a lot of my strength. I wake up everyday wondering what the day will bring. I can relapse at any given moment, with still NO CURE.”

With the cause and cure unknown and a continual increase of newly diagnosed patients, Nephrotic Syndrome and FSGS, have become a concern to patients, families, and physicians. The Nephcure Walk will allow community members to give back locally and support families like Ely’s by participating in the fight to discover the cure. Registration for the walk will begin at 9:00 am and the walk will start at 10:00 am. There is no registration fee but fundraising is encouraged. Any walker who collects over $100 will receive a free T-Shirt. All proceeds will benefit the NephCure Foundation, an organization the Grau family has been supporting actively since Ely was diagnosed with the disease.
